A Good Deed A Day…

Once when my daughter was young, we went to a McDonald’s for dinner. There was a homeless man out front. I explained to my daughter that he didn’t have any money and that we could buy him a meal to help him through the night.

My daughter said, “Why can’t he go up to one of those bank machines and get money like the rest of us.”

I was struck by her comment. When we are blessed by getting our needs met, we sometimes forget how blessed we are. Thank goodness children can, and will, bring us down to earth.

I recently read where an apple producer in North Carolina donated the harvesting rights for a six-acre apple orchard to a local food bank.

Sometimes our blessing could be a greater blessing to someone else.

What do you have right in front of you that is needed more by someone else?
